Happy Centennial! Ten decades of breaking barriers. Capturing the public’s attention. Challenging the norms. Yet remaining as the standard. The blueprint. From culture to dialect to entertainment. Beauty and Fashion.
Black Beauty Roster did its big one to celebrate black talent and creators with their 100 years of Beauty in Fashion event presented by Brown Sugar Babe during New York Fashion Week. Voices and artists who help shape and influence our community. In a living reel, we traced a century in motion unfolding in the silk of time. From Madam CJ Walker to Grace Jones to Robyn “Rihanna" Fenty and all those in between, we wanted to honor those who reshaped how the world sees Black Beauty. Together, all of them played a role in the legacy and movement of Black Beauty.
It was more than ever evident as the glitz and glamour was in the room with us filled with beautiful garments, stylized hairstyles and makeup looks, and the energy was vivacious through the cheers and laughter. And let’s not forget the incredible playlist selection.

The highlight of the night was the activation by Brown Sugar Babe. Their activation allowed you to smell different fragrances that were divine. The rich, addictive and lingering aroma filled the room between the melting warm vanilla and toasted brown sugar. Just the perfect finishing touch that radiates the skin. A luminous stand out of pure brilliance.
What a way to end the occasion then with some goodies provided by both Black Beauty Roster and Brown Sugar Babe, essentials that will awaken your glow and breathe life into your skin. Thank you to our partners Tarte Cosmetics, WME William Morris Endeavor, Salon Centric and BBR 100 with our event. In addition, we are so grateful to have Olaxplex, Tarte Cosmetics, Oribe Hair Care, Buttah Skin, Danessa Myricks Beauty, Sienna Naturals, 12PM Studios, MAC Cosmetics, Black Girl Vitamins, and Bask and Lather included in our curated gift bags. All the support means so much!
As stated again,100 years of celebration however we still have ways to go. This isn’t to negate the efforts we have accomplished already, but just a reminder we can do more. We are more. Let’s just hope the next 100 years will recognize black talent, people, and excellence as part of the infrastructure and not an add-on for diversity points. So, here’s to never staying still, but always moving forward.
